*HOLY EUCHARIST Rite I

This celebration is in the traditional language and reflects the language and piety of the Elizabethan era and the first Book of Common Prayer (1549), although the structure of these liturgies also reflects the influence of modern liturgical scholarship.

*HOLY EUCHARIST Rite II

This celebration reflects more fully the influence of the liturgical movement and contemporary theology. Rite II liturgies tend to reflect greater sensitivity for inclusive language issues. The proper liturgies for special days (such as Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday), pastoral offices (such as the Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage), and episcopal services (such as ordinations) are printed in contemporary language in the Book of Common Prayer. On Sundays, the Cathedral choir sings during this service.

*CONTEMPLATIVE EUCHARIST

The main characteristic of a Contemplative Eucharist is silence — a silent space for being and listening, for disposing ourselves to the gift contemplation. The service is an opportunity to sit quietly with God's word and features simple chant settings from the Taizé Community—an ecumenical monastic community in France. It is a come-as-you-are service open to all seeking quiet and comfort in the midst of their busy lives. The homily will be conducted as a guided meditation in the lectio divina style led by Fr. Tyler.
