The Vestry and The Reverend Tyler B. Doherty, Priest-in-Charge, are pleased to announce that, beginning September 16, 2018, we are participating in a program called RenewalWorks. RenewalWorks is a ministry of Forward Movement which provides us with the opportunity to collectively explore and reflect on how we experience our love of God and neighbor, to guide and encourage our individual and corporate spiritual growth, and to determine along the way how we want to move forward as a diverse community always striving to demonstrate Christ-like, self-giving love to others.
There are three stages to this program:
Everyone who considers themselves a part of The Cathedral Church of St. Mark's faith community are invited to complete an anonymous, confidential, online survey titled the "Spiritual Life Inventory." We will provide ways for those not using computers to participate.
A group of approximately ten to fourteen pre-selected volunteers will participate in four workshops between the months of October and November 2018. In addition to looking at the pattern of our own Spiritual Life Inventory responses, the workshop team will look at the pattern of responses from other churches. The workshop team will ask themselves questions such as: Where are we as a congregation? Where do we feel called to go? How will we get from here to there?
The workshop team will consider best practices of cohort congregations (collected from research done with over 1,800 churches) then explore ways some of those practices might take root at The Cathedral Church of St. Mark. Findings and recommendations will be shared with the congregation after the program concludes.
Please be on the lookout for a letter from The Reverend Tyler B. Doherty in the coming weeks which will further explain the RenewalWorks program and why we're excited to be one of 45 churches nationwide participating.
